What is involved in a treatment?

It is so much more than just massage, though manual therapy will very likely form the basis of the treatment process. There will be multiple therapy options available as part of a Sports Therapy treatment, and the therapist can then  select whichever is most suitable and likely to provide the best outcome for the patient. See the gallery below for an idea of the possible treatment types, and the 'Sports Therapy Information Sheet' for more detail.

"Think of it like tools in a tool box, where a workman will select a hammer in some situations or a screwdriver in others, depending on the specific job at hand."

The structure of a Sports Therapy Treatment session will usually look as follows:
  1. Patient Intake and discussion of medical and injury history
  2. Physical and postural assessment of the patient (both active & passive movements)
  3. Therapy Treatment of the patient (the majority of the session appointment)
  4. Exercise Prescription of rehabilitation or remedial exercises, demonstrated and practiced / sent electronically
  5. Summary of initial findings and recommendations for patient future recovery pathway

Testimonials

I'm proud to be recommended by my patients. Here are some of their comments:
"I have a disk degeneration problem and as a result my vertebrae can easily slip and fracture. I suffer from chronic tightness and discomfort as a result. NOTHING relieved the aches, until I started getting sports massage treatment with David monthly and working with him to strengthen my back muscles.

David is incredibly calming and caring, he will go above and beyond to make sure you’re getting the right treatment for YOU. I can’t recommend him enough – and actually regularly do!"

- Sarah
"I pulled my neck and walked into my physio treatment with David like a hobbit, unable to turn my neck independently from my body. I walked away from the treatment with repaired neck mobility and a big smile.

Next day the pain disappeared and the range of motion of my neck was almost back to normal. I was delighted with this result and so happy to be moving without restriction and pain. So thankful for David for helping me out with my acute neck crisis."
